At Michener, you are part of a close-knit community. You will meet a great group of people and it’s hard not to make lasting friendships.
Student Body Profile
Every year, Michener welcomes a diverse group of students pursuing careers in the applied health sciences. Although there are minor changes year over year, our student demographics have remained relatively consistent. Here is an approximate ‘snapshot’ of our student population:
- 75% female; 25% male
- The average age of students is 25. 65% of first year students are between the ages of 21-25 years (60.8% in 2006).
- 90% of first year students have some post secondary education; 75% of those students have three or more years of post-secondary education.
- 65% of students have been previously employed and/or volunteered in a health care related role.
- 50% of students have a member of their family that worked as a health care provider or in a health care related position.
Student Activities
During the course of the year, there are plenty of social events organized by the Student Council. Students determine all of the events, so individual activities vary from year to year. Previous students have enjoyed pub & club nights, intramural sports, ski trips and boat cruises.

“With the long hours most of us put in studying, eating and sleeping in Schatz Hall, its hard not to make new friends almost everyday. It sort of feels like our own Michener family!”
- Nadley Persad, Chiropody Graduate
