Student Services Office
The Student Services Office provides administrative, advocacy, and advisory assistance to Michener's student population. The list of support services available through this office includes but is not limited to: responding to student inquiries about their own student records, producing transcripts and student confirmation letters, giving academic advice, suggesting remediation options, as well as hearing student concerns and recommendations. Student Services maintains an open door policy and is available to all full time, part time, continuing education and distance education students.
WalkSafe
The WalkSafe program is a complimentary service for members of Michener's community. Student WalkSafe Officers escort staff, students and other members of Michener's community within a two kilometre radius.
All WalkSafe patrols are conducted on foot by a team of two students - one male and one female. WalkSafe Officers can be found at the Student Services Desk in Michener's Lobby, Monday to Friday evenings during the academic year from 20:00 to 23:00 hours.
Student Identification Cards
The Student Services Office issues each student a Student ID card providing:
- identification of the student by name and photograph
- validation of student status
- a unique bar code granting borrowing privileges at The Michener Institute Learning Resource Centre
You must carry your Student ID card with you at all times while at Michener. It is specifically required for access to the building, computer lab, and fitness facilities outside of regular hours, for use of the Learning Resource Centre, and for identification during exams. You may be asked to produce your Student ID card at any time.
The Student ID card is the property of The Michener Institute and must be returned to Student Services if a student withdraws or is expelled. Loss of an ID card must be reported to Student Services. A new card will be issued for a $10 administrative fee.
Lockers
Lockers are assigned to all full time students except those living in Schatz Hall (which is attached to Michener). Students are responsible for providing their own locks, and Michener is not responsible for loss of personal items.
