Student Council

The Student Council serves as the students' representative body. It initiates and directs student activities, acts as liaison with Michener staff, and represents the student body on many influential Michener committees. The council consists of student representatives elected from each of the programs, and members attend weekly meetings to conduct business. A staff member serves as advisor to assist the council. Message from Student Council

Student Council would like to welcome all new and returning students to The Michener Institute for the 2010-2011 academic year. We hope you are all looking forward to a great year full of learning, meeting new people and most of all discovering the opportunities that await you.

Michener offers diverse health care programs that integrate theoretical and practical experience to prepare you to be a confident and experienced health care professional. With the many programs at Michener this is a great place to start developing your interprofessional skills which will be an asset for you as you begin your career in health care. Through meeting those in your class and those in other programs you will learn so much more. Also by taking an active role in your education and school you will be well on your way to a wonderful career as a health care professional. We hope that you get involved with your program and Michener, making your time here more than just about the work you have to do but a wonderful experience.

This year's Student Council is looking forward to offering a year full of activities with the goal of providing a lively atmosphere throughout the school. We encourage everyone to get involved either by helping out with committees or taking part in the events. We offer social events, intramural sports and many other services. We are approachable and have your interests in mind, so we welcome your input to help us provide the services you desire.

We look forward to meeting all of you as we take this journey of learning and discovery together and wish everyone a wonderful year and best of luck.

Student Alumni

As a student of The Michener Institute, you are automatically a student member of the Alumni Association. There are many advantages to being a student alumni, including:

• Give your resume to the Alumni Office and be on the list for casual work
• Take part in student alumni activities and events
• Receive a copy of Michener Magazine for Alumni and Friends
• Free admission to Michener's Career Fair (Held on April 6, 2011 from 11:30am to 4pm)
