Access & Options for International Health Professionals

About Access & Options (A&O)

A&O Courses of Interdisciplinary/Interspecialty Interest

Why was Access & Options created?

Ontario is facing a critical shortage of health technologists and therapists. Regardless of that fact, landed immigrants educated in applied health sciences may be unable to practise, due to barriers such as language, lack of Canadian work experience or provincial/federal certification requirements.

Michener can now help internationally educated health professionals identify barriers and overcome them. Our objective is your success in the Canadian healthcare sector.

What is Access & Options?

The Access & Options programs provide IEHP's with the profession-specific language and skills training, clinical experience, personal support and personal guidance they need to write national certification examinations and prepare for the Canadian workplace in these professions:

  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • Radiological Technology
  • Respiratory Therapy

Access & Options offers personalized programs for professionals, tailored to the needs of each individual. Following an assessment, a customized plan is developed to address a range of needs. Due to the customized nature of the programs, tuition is charged and paid for on a course-by-course basis and the program length may vary.

Classes are conducted at Michener in both lecture and laboratory settings. Students are encouraged to participate in supervised clinical practice at sites affiliated with The Michener Institute and/or Simulated Clinical Experience Courses held at The Michener Institute.
