The Michener Institute is pleased to announce new course offerings starting in January 2011.

Steps to participating:

• Obtain a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or Order from the respective body which states that you are eligible to take the CSMLS/CAMRT exam.
• Complete the Michener English Language Assessment (MELA) and obtain the prerequisite score of 7 in all components.
• Submit the application form and relevant application documents (PLA/Order and MELA score) to the Michener Institute by December 15th, 2010.
• Once you have obtained permission from a Bridging Program associate, you may register for your January 2011 courses through our Student Enrolment department.
• Please note: Participants must be landed immigrants or permanent residents in order to enroll in the program.

What types of supports will I receive once I have enrolled in Michener’s 2011 courses?

Bridging Program students will receive supports our full-time program students receive, including:

• Learning Resource Centre (LRC) Access
• Student ID
• Coaching and Counselling Services
• Peer Tutoring
• Enhanced Learning Supports
• Michener E-Accounts Access
• Fitness Centre Access

What can I do before January 2011 to prepare?

1) Complete the steps to participating above.

2) The Michener Bridging Program strongly recommends taking the Canadian Health Care System, Culture and Context for Internationally Trained Health Professionals (link) from the University of Toronto.

The course is delivered in both distance and in-class formats.

The classroom session consists of five 6-hour sessions, held on Saturdays at a location in downtown Toronto, Ontario. Online sessions are 10 weeks in duration.

When can I view the January 2011 schedule of courses?

The course schedule is currently being developed and will be posted as soon as possible. Our courses take place on evenings and weekends to allow maximum convenience for our students.
