Medical Radiation Technology
In order to practice radiological technology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine or magnetic resonance imaging in Canada, you must successfully pass the Certification Exam offered by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and apply for registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO).
If you have not already done so, please review general requirements on the CAMRT website under "Eligibility requirements for Internationally Educated candidates".

Step 1: Submit a Registration Application to the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO)
The CMRTO will evaluate your application and determine if you are eligible for registration and what you must complete to be registered. You will receive a written decision from the CMRTO (referred to by the College as an "ORDER").

Step 2: Complete a Program Application & Book Appointment
Admission Requirements
- Permanent resident (Landed Immigrant or Canadian Citizen)
- Approval from CMRTO to advance to certification examination
- Completion of A&O assessments
- Profession specific knowledge
- English language proficiency

Complete an application form and submit copies of the following documents to the address or fax above:
- Record of Landing or Permant Resident Card
- CMRTO Order and,
- Recent resumé
Step 3: Enroll in an individualized program
Based on your CMRTO Decision, an individualized program will be developed to prepare you to write the certification examination.

Program Length
The program is designed specifically for you based on the decision by the CMRTO. Your program could take from five months up to a full year.
Tuition
Due to the customized nature of the program, tuition is charged and paid for on a course by course basis.
The Michener Institute's Office of Access & Options offers courses and support in the following areas:
- Language
- Interdisciplinary Studies
- Strategies for Competency Based Examinations
- Radiological Technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging reviews
- Clinical experience
Courses are offered at The Michener Institute or through the Black Board Learning Platform (distance education).
Step 4: Write Certification Examination
Write the CAMRT national certification examination. Successful completion of the examination enables you to apply for registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) which will allow you to practice as a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) in Ontario.
Practicing outside Ontario
