1950's Holiday Party
Michener’s staff and faculty kicked off the institute’s 50th anniversary year at the annual Holiday Party held on December 6, 2007. The 50th Anniversary Team members were introduced to staff as part of the short announcements during the event. Guests were given the opportunity to volunteer for the various teams of the 50th Anniversary Inititative. Following the announcements, the surprise guest of the evening was unveiled - none other than Elvis,who delighted the crowd with performance of his hits from the fifties.
The evening included the hula hoop contest, which was held to break the 3-way tie for the best 50's costume of the evening. Dr. Diana Schatz, the honorary chair of the 50th Anniversary Team, announced the winner of the contest, who was clad in a pink poodle skirt, white shirt and emerald green neck scarf.
