PHMR110 - Physics of MRIThis course provides an introduction to magnetic resonance imaging hardware, software, and general applications. Requisite knowledge in MRI physics, system components, pulse sequence, image formation and the relationship between MR parameters and tissue weightings are presented.

PCMR121 - Patient Care, Safety, and Professionalism
This course focuses on aspects of patient care, safety and professionalism as they relate to the magnetic resonance imaging environment. Students will also learn about bioeffects of MRI, contrast preparation, contrast injection, IV maintenance, drug reactions, aseptic techniques, emergency procedures, and ethical practices related to the profession. * All students are required to be N95 - mask fitted, which requires students to be clean shaven.*
LSIP250 - Leadership in Healthcare (offered until September 2011 semester) - taken concurrently with PCMR121
This course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to discuss pertinent
theories of leadership with your colleagues in order to develop leadership skills in
relation to your participation in health care teams. It will provide you with a broad
overview of current theories, principles and perspectives on the leadership role in an
Interprofessional environment and will enable you to enhance your understanding of your role in the
multiple dimensions of leadership.
PAMR120 - Pathology and Intro to Anatomy (course offered starting Winter 2012 semester) - taken concurrently with PCMR121
This course investigates the pathology and anomalies related to the anatomy of the human body. The PAMR course is divided into anatomical regions of study: central nervous system (CNS), thorax, abdomen, male pelvis, female pelvis, musculoskeletal system. The student will identify and describe the location and patholgies of specific anatomical structures. Students will also be introduced to cross sectional anatomy using a variety of cross sectional and multiplanary MRI images.

APMR130 - Cross-Sectional Anatomy & Physiology
This course investigates the cross sectional and relational anatomy of the human body. The APMR130 course is divided into anatomical regions of study: head, central nervous system (CNS), neck, spine, thorax, abdomen, male pelvis, female pelvis, upper extremities and lower extremities. The student will identify and describe the location and physiology of specific anatomical structures, organs, vessels & muscles using a variety of cross sectional and multiplanary MRI images.

MRMR241 - Methodology I
The identification and recognition of anatomical structures and pathologies are discussed. Methodology demonstrates positioning techniques and scan protocols. Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) standards and procedures are discussed.
Two laboratory sessions at an MRI site will be scheduled. For those students living within 100 km of Michener, attendance is required at the Toronto laboratory sessions. For those students living at a distance greater than 100 km of Michener, arrangements may be made to perform these lab sessions at an affiliated MR site nearer to the student.
Pre-requisite: Successful completion of PHMR110, PCMR121 and APMR130.

MRMR251 - Methodology II (taken concurrently with CLMR251)
New advances in MRI are presented via video and text-based material.

CLMR251 - Clinical Practicum (taken concurrently with MRMR251)
This course is designed to offer the student the opportunity to apply the acquired didactic knowledge learned during the theoretical portion of the MRI program. The student will successfully demonstrate and perform a variety of MRI procedures. The first week of this 15 week clinical course will take place at Michener; the remaining fourteen (14) weeks will take place at an affiliated clinical site.
Clinical sites will be assigned several months prior to the clinical semester. Students will have the opportunity to state their four top choices of clinical placements from sites presented at that time but may end up placed at any of the affiliated sites. The presented sites will only be sites able to accommodate students for that particular clinical semester, so will not necessarily include all affiliated sites listed on our website. If a student wishes to attend a clinical site not currently affiliated with Michener, they are encouraged to request this upon entering the program so that every effort can be made to accommodate this request.
